Oppn condemns Balasore incident

Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress Saturday strongly condemned the incident in Balasore district wherein a college student, who had lodged a sexual harassment complaint against a teacher, allegedly set herself on fire on the institute premises and sustained 90 per cent burn injuries.

BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty said, “We are shocked not only for what has happened in Balasore today, but also for what has been happening in Odisha in the past one month.”

“One college girl was gang-raped at Gopalpur beach and a couple is forced to plough land. Odisha is a peaceful place, and we have never seen such things happening in the state,” he added.
