Cup final places up for grabs

IT WAS semi finals week in all of the Nuneaton Thursday League leagues cup competitions and it has thrown up some very exciting finals.

In the prestigious Tommy Hilditch Trophy, last year winners, Nuneaton will defend their trophy against Division One Champions Atherstone.

Nuneaton had a comfortable win at Ambleside. Kyle Taylor top scored with 38, supported by 37not out from Joe Malsbury in a total of 117-2.

Zane King then ripped the heart out of the Ambleside batting taking 4-19 and with three run outs they were bowled out for 79.

Atherstone came out on top in a much closer match at Fillongley. The home side batted first and posted an impressive 153-6. A knock of 45 from Paul Thomas and 30 plus scores from Oliver and Aaron Blackmore were the chief run scorers.
