Worker stole £34,326 from charity where he was 'part of the family'

A TRUSTED charity worker who was "part of the family" at the organisation which had helped him from the age of eight, stole more than £34,000 from it.

Nottingham Crown Court heard how Zenon Hos deliberately chose not to bank cash made by cafes run by Rumbles Catering Project, which since 1998 has supported people with learning difficulties.

The 36-year-old dad of two instead took the money home and later tried to blame an ex-partner who he claimed "helped herself to it".

The founder of Rumbles, Georgina Dolan, broke down in court as she read her own victim impact statement, telling the hearing how she had known him since he was a young child and trusted him.

Handing him a 12-month jail term, suspended for two years, Judge Tina Dempster said: "It is really sad to see you here today. You have lost your good name, but you have lost much more than that.
