SO, now we know the answer to a mystery that has puzzled mankind since the dawn of buildings with manually opening apertures: why do flies go in but won't go out?

Window of opportunity to learn truth about those pesky flies

Or do we?

Are you a disciple of the mainstream media? Or is your mind open to possibilities beyond the grasp of the crowd?

This very organ carried the news this week that researchers have revealed why it is that a fly, having entered a building through an open window, will steadfastly resist the most extreme form of persuasion, from noxious spray to wafted newspaper, to exit via the same route.

"Despite their compound eyes providing a broad visual range, flies have limited clarity over short distances and difficulty perceiving light," according to a team from the University of Sussex.

"Consequently, an open window, especially when indoor artificial lights are on, may not be recognised as an escape route."
