Update on pet food firm that went into administration with 51 jobs lost

AN update has been issued on the fate of a 50-year-old firm that entered administration and made its staff redundant.

Pet food seller Kennelpak, which had traded from Palmer Drive off Bessell Lane on Stapleford for decades, appointed administrators in July.

Kerry Bailey and Mark Thornton of business advisory BDO were appointed to manage the insolvent business and made 51 people redundant in the summer.

BDO has now confirmed that related holding companies Kennelpak Group Limited and Kennelpak Holdings Limited have been placed into liquidation, meaning they will both soon be wound up.

Administration and liquidation are both formal insolvency procedures that start when a business cannot pay its bills, with the former more likely to be used when part or all of a firm can be saved and the latter used to close a company without a recovery attempt.
