Tower improvements stymied by wait for sign-off from regulator

IMPROVEMENTS to a housing tower that once compared to a prison have been delayed by a “frustrating” issue.

Tenants of Nottingham City Council's Colwick Woods Court building in Sneinton have complained that the ageing 16-storey block is in an unpleasant and even dangerous condition.

Cold and outdated rooms, paper-thin walls and broken balconies and lifts have been raised by frustrated residents in the past, with one tenant telling the Post he sometimes preferred to sleep in his car.

The council submitted plans for a multi-million-pound improvement programme in 2022, with spending for the project approved in late 2023. Officers hoped that work would start early last year.

However, the long-awaited improvements have still not started, despite scaffolding being in place for months.
