Tenant facing eviction: 'It feels like it's you against the world in getting your voice heard'

DOZENS TOLD TO MAKE WAY FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE
"IT would be catastrophic to my life" and "I don’t understand why it’s happening". These are the anxious voices of dozens of tenants living in three Sherwood properties served with no-fault eviction notices.
Once they are set in motion, landlords cannot withdraw section 21 no-fault eviction notices.
However, a joint union and tenant campaign is aiming to pressure property managers Assured Properties and Transitions Housing - both working on behalf of the landlord - to agree temporary tenancy agreements to allow residents time to find somewhere to live.
Tenants of the three properties on Mansfield Road - Warwick House, Warwick Mount, and Warwick Towers - were issued notices in staggered phases.
But they have banded together to fight against the “morally reprehensible” evictions.
Billy Owain Hughs, 35, who works in a pub, was given two months to move out. He said: “It’s just impossible to get out in that time. Paying the new deposit, paying the rent here...
“I'd need to get this until December to save up that money, I’m not being stubborn, I just can’t do it. If it was any earlier than that I would be out on the street. I wouldn’t be able to carry on working. I haven’t even been able to look for a new place because I can’t afford any deposits.
