Teacher in tears as she was caught driving over drink limit

A RETIRED teacher has escaped a classroom ban after a watchdog was told she twice drove while under the influence of alcohol.

Stephanie Louise Bright taught at Woodthorpe Infant School, Woodthorpe, at the time of the offences.

Ms Bright, who retired in 2022, committed the offences on November 15, 2012, and October 25, 2016.

A Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) panel held earlier this month revealed that the school was “at least aware” of Ms Bright’s second conviction in 2016, but she continued to be employed until 2022.

The first offence took place in Main Street, Lambley, when Ms Bright was caught with 102 milligrammes of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The limit is 80mg.
