LONG-RUNNING DISPUTE LEADS TO ANGRY CONFRONTATIONS ON STREETS

STUDENTS and residents are fighting a war of words in a long-running parking dispute near a city school.

Students have been accused of urinating in hedges and residents of leaving threatening notes on cars as tempers flare.

Neighbours have complained of pupils blocking drives and dropping litter on streets around Bilborough College.

But the students say they have few parking options and say they have been angrily confronted.

"Students don’t park cars, they abandon them," said Ivett Wright, 79, who has lived in the area for almost six decades. "They park on double yellow lines but they don’t care because nobody polices it. We want permits.

"There’s a lot of elderly people here and disabled children on this road. Wheelchairs need to get down pavements and they can’t."

Michelle Iball also complained about student parking, as well as problems with litter.
