'Something for everyone' as transformed restaurant and new pub open in village

Around 1,650 guests flocked to check out what Tom Browns and The Anchor had to offer when they opened on the last Bank Holiday weekend.

Riverside brasserie Tom Browns, which first opened in Gunthorpe nearly 40 years ago, has been given a sleek and sophisticated new look with an adults-only menu of oysters and steak and live entertainment.

Over the last few months the much-loved restaurant has been gutted and reimagined to give it the “wow factor” both inside and out.

Diners can feast on beef tartare, scallops, dry-aged fillet of beef and seafood tagliolini listening to a live pianist, singers on stage and DJs.

A new mezzanine has become a space for private dining, complete with its own bar.

The outdoor terrace has been given a Mediterranean-style makeover with booths under the shade of white Laurent Perrier parasols, a fire pit, landscaping and a new outdoor bar.

General manager Adam Kanani, who has worked at Tom Browns for nearly a decade, said: “It was like a glamorous party. Everyone dressed up. I think people have been looking for ages to go somewhere on a night out and dress up for it.
