ANGRY NEIGHBOUR SAYS IT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN GIVEN PLANNING PERMISSION

- JOEL MOORE

Row over wall that 'looks like a prison' on housing estate

A ROW over a newly-built wall has broken out between neighbours on a "middle-class" Nottinghamshire estate, with one resident saying it makes the area look "like some sort of prison".

The boundary wall was built during extension works at a home in Mornington Crescent, Nuthall earlier this year and several local residents aren't happy about it.

The complainants have described the 6ft wall as a "monstrosity", claiming it should never have been given planning permission by Broxtowe Borough Council. But the authority said the structure had been built in accordance with the application which "considered all relevant comments".

The homeowner at the centre of the drama, Jonathan Lewis, said the issue was "a nonsense" and urged neighbours to raise the matter to his face. All of this is just a complete and utter over-reaction," he said.
