REFORM UK has passed its first budget since taking over Nottinghamshire County Council meaning the first council tax rise for Nottinghamshire residents this year has been confirmed.

- By OLIVER PRIDMORE

The council tax rise of 3.99% is one of the lowest passed by the authority in the last decade, though Reform rejected a Conservative counter-proposal for a lower 2.99% increase, accusing them of living in “Disneyland” for proposing it.

The budget also includes crucial details on how much will be invested in Nottinghamshire’s roads, with all budget plans affecting the financial year running from April 2026 to April 2027. Below is a list of the key points from Reform UK’s first budget.

Council tax rise but one of the lowest for 10 years

Plans have been confirmed for a 3.99% rise in council tax for all those served by Nottinghamshire County Council - everybody outside the city boundary.

Those in Nottinghamshire will also have to pay tax bills to their local district or borough council, as well as to the police and fire services, so the county council bill is just one element of the overall tax they will pay.
