Reform announces Mick Barton as county council leader

THE new leader of Nottinghamshire County Council will be Mick Barton.

The announcement by Reform UK was made after a full meeting of all their Nottinghamshire county councillors yesterday.
Nigel Farage’s party secured a convincing majority in the county council election on Thursday, May 1, with 40 councillors elected on a day which saw the Tories lose control and Labour knocked down to just four members.
Mr Barton said he was “very proud and humbled” by his selection, which he believes is due to his “vast experience” at Mansfield District Council, where he was first elected in 2003.
Speaking to the Post outside County Hall, he said: “I'm very excited but I'm a little bit frightened because I don't want to let anyone down.
