Prospect of further housebuilding in city suburb splits residents

PLANS for further housebuilding in Mapperley have split residents.
The area is among those that could be expanded over the next two decades under Gedling Borough Council's local development plan.
The council is currently consulting on the document which will outline development until 2043. It has earmarked Mapperley Golf Course and land off Plains Road for potentially large-scale housebuilding.
Davidsons Homes recently built a 164-home estate near Brookfields Garden Centre and Cameron Homes is constructing 57 homes nearby, but under draft proposals more could be built from Spring Lane and up the other side of Plains Road.
