NHS trust's HQ is up for sale

A CASH-strapped Nottinghamshire NHS trust has put its headquarters up for sale.

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT), which operates the county's mental health services, is selling its Duncan Macmillan House building in Porchester Road, Mapperley, as it seeks funding to support improvements to care.

In November, the trust which has been criticised during inquests into patient deaths and will soon be scrutinised by the Nottingham Inquiry over how it cared for paranoid schizophrenic killer Valdo Calocane said it was £4.4 million behind a recovery plan meant to tackle issues with its finances.

The trust was running a £17 million deficit by the end of October the seventh month of its financial year despite putting in place a financial recovery plan to cut costs.
