New cafe is a nod to village's mining past

A VILLAGE's mining heritage is remembered at a new cafe, deli and wine bar. The Miners is a place for breakfasts, lunches, drinks and high quality produce to take home.

- By LYNETTE PINCHESS

Celebrating the industry that once had a 40,000-strong workforce in the county, the cafe's branding centres upon a colliery worker, wearing a hard hat with a lamp. Items on the menu are a nod to mining terms, while the paintwork has a coal and brass effect.

The new business has opened in a former Methodist chapel in High Street, Edwinstowe, which was previously home to farm-to-fork restaurant The Chapel and BOHNS Burgers earlier this year. It's now in the hands of local couple Adam and Tina Wade, who also run The Lansbury Restaurant and Bar in Edwinstowe.

The Miners' menu kicks off with all things eggs and bacon, themed around mining, such as the Collier's Breakfast, the Double Shift, and Pitman's Hash. Stokers Stack pancakes are served with toppings of fruit, smoked bacon, or sugar and lemon.
