National Day to remember terror victims to be held

A NATIONAL day to remember victims and survivors of terrorism will be held each year as a way to pay tribute to them and “educate the next generation”.

The annual commemoration will take place on August 21 at a different place in the UK each year to recognise the widespread impact of terrorism around the country.

Plans are under way to hold the first event next year.

The move follows a 12-week public consultation launched in March, which showed overwhelming support for the plans, the Home Office said.

Ministers will work with victims and survivors to shape how the day will look, including a final name and symbol.
