Medical supplies firm in talks over 'devastating' plan to exit Boots HQ

RELOCATION WOULD MEAN THE LOSS OF MORE THAN 150 JOBS

TALKS are ongoing over 150 job cuts proposed by a medical company that works from Boots' Nottinghamshire headquarters and was once part of the company.

Alliance Healthcare, which sells healthcare products to more than 17,000 pharmacies, doctors, hospitals and health centres in the UK, is planning to close its warehouse on the health and beauty giant's Thane Road campus, between Nottingham and Beeston.

The firm, which was sold by Boots' American parent company Walgreens Boots Alliance in 2021, uses the D80 building as one of its 12 service centres across the country. But in March the company said it wanted to close its Nottingham and Hinckley sites and cut jobs in South Normanton to consolidate its operations at a new centre in Birmingham.

The Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (Usdaw) said the "devastating" decision had put 490 jobs at risk.
