Marathon team runs to honour Sam's memory

LONDON EFFORT WILL BOOST MOTOR NEURONE DISEASE RESEARCH

A TEAM of runners is set to run the London Marathon in honour of motor neurone disease campaigner Sam Perkins.

Sam, from East Leake, was diagnosed with the terminal neurological disease in 2019 when he was just 37.

After his diagnosis, he decided to try to make a difference by raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for research into the disease and by founding the charity Stand Against MND.

Sam died in February last year, and in tribute to his campaigning work in the field, a group of runners will take part in the 2026 London Marathon to raise money for the MND Association.
