Manager of care home that used baby gates is struck off

THE manager of a care home where residents were restricted by baby gates without reason has been struck off.

Carolyn Blore was the boss of Ashford Lodge Nursing Home, in Ilkes-ton, for nearly a decade before its eventual closure.

The home, caring for 20 residents at the time, was the subject of a damning inspection report by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in 2022 and was rated “inadequate”.

Ms Blore was subsequently referred to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and faced a fitness-to-practice hearing in March, at which she was struck off after being found responsible for more than 25 failings.
