CITY RESTAURANT STANDS OUT FROM THE CROWD

- By LYNETTE PINCHESS

Little Brickhouse is building up a big reputation for fabulous food

THERE'S a marvellous story behind Little Brickhouse, which started out in a small terraced house.

Katharina Linnenbrink began a supper club, cooking for her friends. Then it became the friends of friends, who'd heard good things about her food.

After moving house, numbers grew and so did her reputation, leading to her taking over a former shipping container cafe in Sherwood where diners squished in like sardines.

When the pandemic temporarily halted cosying up to anyone outside your group, Katharina moved to an empty property in Nottingham and opened a fully fledged restaurant with her Norwegian partner Joakim Nielsen.

Ever since it opened it's been on my list and I'm ashamed to say it has taken me so long to visit.

Virtually everyone who has been to the quirky restaurant, part way up Derby Road at Canning Circus, raves about it being a brilliant little gem and the amazing food served there.

The fetching pink façade signals our arrival. The "open" sign is a pair of red lips (a common theme) above the door an instant reminder of the time I reported on Little Brickhouse first opening and Katharina putting on her lippy for photos and jokingly pouting for the camera.

Inside is a cross between someone's home and an art gallery with mid-century furniture, pictures, ceramics, books and plants. It's cute and buzzy, with 12 tables making it lively but not TOO lively.
