DEFENDER SAYS THERE WAS A SENSE OF 'PANIC' AT TIMES AS HE WAITED TO LEARN HIS FATE

- By SAM ALLEN

NOTTS County's Lewis Macari recently spoke about the outcome of an FA investigation into his own betting history, opening up about the mental struggles he faced while waiting to learn of his fate.

The 23-year-old defender was given a suspended three-month ban in October, having pleaded guilty to placing 354 bets on matches between February 25, 2020, and December 4, 2022.

The bets were placed while he was still on the books at Stoke City, before he made the permanent move to Notts County. However, his current club supported him throughout the hearing process, which took place over the summer.

Ending up with a suspended ban has meant Macari has been able to continue playing for the Magpies, allowing him to become a regular starter again under Martin Paterson, given that he does not reoffend.

However, before a final verdict was reached, there was a long, anxious wait.
