BRAZILIAN DEFENDER SAYS REDS BELIEVE THEY CAN END 'INCREDIBLE SEASON' WITH SPOT IN TOP FIVE, WHILE 'IMPORTANT' TEAM-MATE RECEIVES 'WELL DESERVED' INTERNATIONAL CALL-UP
-
NOTTINGHAM Forest could yet realise their Champions League dream as the 2024/25 season comes to a close.
In Sunday's penultimate match of the campaign, the Reds secured a huge 2-1 win over West Ham United.
It means they are firmly in the mix for a top-five finish ahead of the final round of fixtures.
Nuno Espirito Santo's side now have a crucial week ahead. Below, we take a look at the latest goings-on at the City Ground ahead of the big finale.
MOTIVATED MURILLO
Stats experts Opta put Forest's chances of securing their place among Europe's elite at 27.55 percent with one game to go. After all, qualification is not entirely in the Reds' own hands given they are one point adrift of the Champions League spots.
But there is no shortage of belief among the squad. Brazilian defender Murillo even took to answering a question in English to underline that particular point after triumphing over the Hammers.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said with a smile: "I will try to speak a little bit in English! The season for us is incredible because we can reach the top five. We believe this.
"Our team is incredible - all together. Finally, we are here, fighting for the big things.
"Now we have a chance against Chelsea, at home, in front of our fans. We believe it is possible. I am so happy and I thank you for the support, especially this season."
The 22-year-old required a little help with some phrases but it was a heartwarming moment and showed how much progress he has made in learning the language. He also made clear the celebrations in the capital would not last for long.
