Jenrick questions legality of May election postponements

DELAYING local council elections for asecond year is “almost certainly illegal", Newark MP Robert Jenrick has said.

The Reform UK MP, who recently defected from the Conservatives, said he had previously received legal advice that it would not be “sustainable” to keep cancelling elections.

Mr Jenrick, who served as communities secretary under the Tories, demanded that the Government publish the advice it had received on the delay.
