‘It’s a new estate, so why are roads falling to pieces?’

Residents of Prospect Place, Harley Street and Willoughby Street, in Lenton, say promises to improve the state of the roads have been broken
RESIDENTS who moved into a new-build estate last year are asking why the roads are already falling to pieces.
People living in Prospect Place, Harley Street and Willoughby Street, in Lenton, say promises to fix the patchwork roads have been broken. Cobbles poke through the tarmac, gravel is coming loose and pipes have been left exposed.
Tune Developments completed the estate in May, working with Nottingham Community Housing Association and the city council. They have promised the roads will be resurfaced, but residents have heard nothing.
Mick Burke who works at the Lenton Centre, in Willoughby Street, , said: "This road is absolutely awful, and since we've had the cold weather, you can see it getting worse, the gravel is coming up, and the potholes are getting bigger now.
"People complain about damaged windscreens from the chips in the road."
Julie Martin, who moved into the house on Prospect Place in March last year, said: "They just need to sort it out, it doesn’t look good, and it'll get worse. There are big dips up and down the road.
