It's a chance to show patriotism say pub-goers, despite £75k cost

Geoff Hellier is staunchly supporting the plan for Union flags to be put up all over Nottinghamshire - including at the end of the road from which he is sipping Guinness in his village pub.

The 68-year-old, like scores of others in the Rushcliffe village of Tollerton, is a small shareholder in the Air Hostess pub saved by the community.

Mr Hellier's initial response when hearing the plan from the Reform UK administration at the county council was simple: "Good idea."

Hundreds of Post readers left comments questioning whether Reform's £75,000 plan was a good way of demonstrating the frugality they pledged to bring to local government.

Opposition leaders say some taxpayers will be appalled at the "waste" of money.
