Get vaccinated, says 'healthy' man who nearly died from flu

BY his own admission, Aaron Clark had barely ever had a cold, never mind the flu.

But just five days after waking up feeling slightly unwell, he found himself in an induced coma at King's Mill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Unvaccinated, the flu had taken control of his body. When he got to the hospital, he was in multi-organ failure.

"When I first came around, one of the first things I remember the doctor saying was 'well done," says Aaron, 42. "She said she'd not known many people come back from as far as I did."

It was a Saturday morning when Aaron woke up feeling "not even really unwell, just not quite right". By Monday or Tuesday, the flu symptoms were in full swing.

But at that point, there was no indication as to how it would eventually manifest itself.
