SUBSTITUTE LUKER PULLS A GOAL BACK IN DEFEAT

MARTIN Paterson's first competitive home game as Notts County head coach ended in disappointment as the Magpies fell to a 2-1 defeat against Salford City in League Two.

Goals in each half from Adebola Oluwa and Kelly N'Mai enabled the Ammies to get their League season up and running at Meadow Lane after they had lost their opening game at home against Crewe Alexandra.

Karl Robinson's side took the lead in the 35th minute after Josh Austerfield's shot was deflected behind and from the resulting corner Oluwa came charging in unmarked to head home Jorge Grant's corner.

The Magpies gifted Salford a 57th-minute second when they made a mess of trying to play out from the back.

Austerfield intercepted goalkeeper Kelle Roos' pass and coolly set up N'Mai for a simple finish.
