HE MISLED INVESTORS IN ‘SUSTAINED FRAUD’
A FORMER NASA scientist from Nottinghamshire has been sentenced after defrauding more than 100 investors out of £1m.
John Burford, 85, who lives in Mansfield, has been jailed for two years after conning investments out of people under false pretences and using the money to buy property and fund his lifestyle. The scientist turned financial trader offered trade alerts and investment opportunities through his firm Financial Trading Strategies Limited from 2016 to 2021, despite lacking the authorisation to do so.
