Debenhams store owners say security is 'stringent'

THE owners of Nottingham's former Debenhams building insist they have “very stringent security’ at the site despite a group of young boys being arrested after climbing on its roof.

Tiles and other items were thrown from the roof of the Long Row building on Thursday after six boys climbed onto the roof and got inside.

The company responsible for the site says it is working with Nottinghamshire Police to see if security can be improved any further. Nottingham City Council, which has enforcement powers against the owners of vacant buildings when it comes to security, says it is working with the owners and others to “resolve the issues” at the site.
