Council tax in Mansfield set to go up by the maximum allowed 2.99%

MANSFIELD District Council is planning to raise council tax by the maximum 2.99%.

The authority released its draft three-year financial plan for 20262029 last week and it was presented to cabinet at a council meeting on Monday.

It shows a deficit for the next financial year of £228,000 in its general budget, used for spending on most services.

Portfolio holder for corporate and finance Craig Whitby (Lab) explained that putting council tax up by the maximum allowed would bring in £190,000 over the year, leaving just £38,000 of deficit left to cover.

That is then planned to be met by increases to “fees and charges” for services, such as cemeteries, planning applications, car parks and allotments.
