Campaigners and councillors want city gig by Marilyn Manson called off

CONTROVERSIAL STAR IS DUE TO PLAY SHOW AT MOTORPOINT ARENA IN NOVEMBER

CAMPAIGNERS and councillors are calling on Nottingham City Council to “show moral leadership” and call off a planned city show by heavy metal star Marilyn Manson.

The first gig of Manson's UK tour, due to take place in Brighton on October 26, was cancelled in June after a number of now-dropped allegations were made against the singer. His One Assassination Under God tour show in the city was cancelled following pressure from a campaign group and concerns raised by Green Party MP Sian Berry.

Manson - whose real name is Brian Warner - is due to perform at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham on November 2, prompting campaigners and two city councillors to call for it to be cancelled.

Alex Norris, Labour MP for Nottingham North and Kimberley, has also written to the arena asking for the booking to be looked at again, he told the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
