THREE houses will probably be demolished after a huge explosion in Worksop claimed a man’s life.

One house on John Street has completely collapsed, and two neighbouring houses suffered “significant structural damage”.

An investigation into the cause of the explosion is set to last days and Nottinghamshire Police confirmed yesterday that David Howard, 53, was killed in Saturday's blast.

Cadent Gas says there is “no indication” that the explosion was caused by its network.

Bassetlaw District Council chief executive David Armiger said: “There are three properties which were severely damaged and I think it’s likely that three will have to be removed.

Other properties do have quite significant damage, but it looks like it is something repairable.
