EARLY FUNDING SECURED FOR ADDITIONAL SCANNERS THAT WILL ALLOW EVEN MORE PATIENTS TO BE TESTED
The Broad Marsh Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) was originally set to open in the spring of 2025
THE opening of a 240m NHS site at Nottingham's Broad Marsh has been delayed for a second time and will now begin welcoming patients two years later than originally planned.
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH), which will run the new site, has announced that an additional 210.5m has been secured to triple the number of MRI and CT scanners that will be based there.
Whilst welcoming the significant investment, which will allow the site to provide up to 140,000 diagnostic tests every year, NUH has also confirmed that the opening of the new facility has been pushed back for a second time.
The Broad Marsh Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) was originally set to open in the spring of 2025 and this was then pushed back to late 2026.
NUH now says the CDC will not welcome its first patients until 2027 but that when it opens, it will be able to offer significantly more daily testing from the off thanks to the latest investment announcement. NUH has been contacted for more information on why the opening has been delayed again.
The 210.5 million from the Department of Health and Social Care means two more MRIs and CT scanners will be installed at the CDC - meaning there will be three of each.
It also means the total value of the CDC is now 239.5 million, 235.5 million of which has come from the Department of Health and Social Care.
