£150,000 makeover approved for Palace Theatre

A COUNCIL has approved its plans to give a century-old theatre a £150,000 makeover.

The Palace Theatre in Appleton Gate, Newark, first opened as a picture house in 1920 and today hosts a number of music, comedy, and drama shows. newark and Sherwood District Council, which owns and manages the theatre, has put forward a plan to refurbish the Grade II listed building. The plan, and listed building consent, were approved at a council planning committee meeting on Thursday.
