North Devon worries heighten after defeat

NORTH Devon's worries at the wrong end of the Premier Division table deepened following an 86-run defeat by upwardly mobile Plymouth.

The two teams were promoted from the A Division together at the end of last season. Since then their paths have diverged.

While Plymouth have carried on climbing - this win took them up to third in the Premier table - North Devon remain winless at the bottom.

Jack Moore, the North Devon skipper, said despite the lack of short-term success the long-term prospects are bright.

"We know we are struggling as first team in the Premier Division this year, but to see three youngsters come up from 2nd XI cricket and hold their own is a great statement for the club going forward," said Moore.

"We might not be the greatest side to ever play Premier cricket, but if we can bring on youngsters in a tough season then it serves us well."

Rahul Randev made exactly 100 in Plymouth's total of 279 for six.
