A FIT and healthy man who complained of feeling ill after swimming died less than two weeks later at home in North Devon, an inquest has heard.
Christopher Moore, a 62-year-old retired mental health nurse, underwent tests at North Devon District Hospital where doctors thought he had a heart problem.
But his symptoms, including shortness of breath and fainting, hid a deadly clot that doctors call “a great mimicker”. He died of a pulmonary embolism on May 4, 2024.
An inquest into his death has been held at County Hall in Exeter. The coroner concluded death from natural causes.
Coroner Deborah Archer was told that Mr Moore, from Barnstaple, started to feel unwell towards the end of April 2024 after swimming.
He went to his GP complaining of faintness, irregular heart beat and shortness of breath.
