Future of farming up for debate at county show date

DEVON Young Farmers will be debating the future of farming at the Devon County Show tomorrow.

Young Farmers, sponsored by leading UK rural insurer NFU Mutual, will come together at Devon County Show on Friday to debate whether there is any incentive for young entrants into farming. Recent Inheritance Tax reforms, announced in the Autumn Budget (2024), introduce significant changes affecting family farms.

The Government has also stopped applications for SFI (Sustainable Farming Incentive), a government grant scheme designed to reward farmers for implementing environmental practices on land.
