Private equity and venture capital deal activity picked up in the five-day period ending 8 August, after two consecutive weeks of slowdown, according to data compiled by VCCircle.

A total of 33 companies raised $209 million in funding this week, up from $152 million raised by 19 firms a week ago, marking a 37.5% jump in deal value.

The top three deals accounted for more than half of the cumulative funding raised this week, a VCCircle analysis showed.
