Early reports suggest the syrups may have been tainted with diethylene glycol, a toxic chemical
The Union health ministry has launched a comprehensive, multi-agency investigation into death of six children following acute kidney failure in the Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh over the past few months.
Health officials suspect a contaminated cough syrup to be responsible for the fatalities. A team from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has been deployed to the region, officials familiar with the matter said.

Cynics would say I am rootless. I'd say I am rooted in many places. I've lived in Bengaluru for 26 years, Delhi for 17.
