Deferred bonuses, joining incentives, and clawbacks are embedded in the high compensation offered at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), reflecting a competitive job market and concerns over attrition. Can these measures help companies hold on to talent? Mint examines:
1 What are companies offering?
High-frequency trading (HFT) firms such as Quadeye, Graviton Research Capital, NK Securities, Quantbox Research, and Squarepoint Capital are offering performance and joining bonuses to lock in candidates immediately after offers are made during the IIT placement season. Texas Instruments offers restricted stock units (RSUS) with a four-year vesting period to retain talent. While joining bonuses have long been part of campus offers, analytics companies are trying to make their offers more lucrative as they compete with startups. Many have also incorporated clawback provisions.
