Parliament security breach painful, a matter of concern, says Modi

The seriousness of the security breach in Parcannot be Prime Minisliament underestimated, ter Narendra Modi said on Sunday, as he called for a detailed investigation and urged the Opposition not to squabble over the incident.

Modi also described the breach as "painful and a matter of concern" and said probe agencies must go to the root of people behind it and their motives.

He made the remarks in an interview with Hindi daily Dainik Jagran.

"The investigating agencies are probing the matter strictly. It is equally important to carry out a deep investigation into who the elements behind this are, and what their intentions were. Efforts should also be made to look for a solution with a collective spirit and everyone should avoid debate or resistance on such topics," Modi said.

"The gravity of the incident which happened in Parliament should not be underestimated. (Lok Sabha) speaker Om Birla is taking necessary steps with full seriousness," he added.
