For large listed cement makers Aditya Birla Group's UltraTech Cement Ltd and Adani Group's Ambuja Cements Ltd, expansion via the inorganic route has been a key mantra. Inorganic growth alternatives such as acquisitions tend to be more cost-effective than organic routes. They aid in faster scale-up of operations. Plus, expansions into newer geographies help in lowering the lead distance. These factors help cement makers get a tighter grip on operating costs and boost volumes.
