Do joint accounts with parents trigger tax liabilities for NRIs?

Indian bank accounts so that I can operate them online. Would this create any tax liability for me? —Name withheld on requestAdding yourself as a joint holder to your parents’ Indian bank account does not make you the owner of the funds or taxable on the interest, as tax follows the beneficial owner—your parents.

Under FEMA regulations, resident accounts held jointly with an NRI close relative are allowed only on an “either or survivor” basis for operational convenience. This does not give the NRI any beneficial interest in the account balance. The NRI may operate the account solely on behalf of the resident holder and only for the resident's domestic payment needs.
