'India, China uniquely placed to lead inclusive global growth'

Sitharaman points out the two nations are the largest and fastest-growing economies

India and China are uniquely positioned to drive inclusive global growth and innovation as the two nations are the largest and fastest-growing economies in the world, Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said during a bilateral meeting with her Chinese counterpart Lan Fo'an in Rio de Janeiro.

"The two leaders recalled their last meeting in Samarkand in September 2024 on the sidelines of the AIIB [Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank] Annual Meetings," the finance ministry said in a post on X. Sitharaman met Fo'an on the sidelines of the Brics finance ministers and central bank governors meeting on Saturday. Brics comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
