TechM names US-based exec Santosh Jha as GCC unit head

India's IT majors, Cognizant, Wipro and HCLTech, are strengthening GCC businesses and focusing on a $100 bn market

In a recent leadership move, Tech Mahindra Ltd has appointed Santosh Kumar Jha, formerly with Maryland-based TEKsystems, to lead its global capability centres (GCC) business, according to three people in the know. It is the fourth major Indian IT services firm to make such an appointment in the past three months.

The move marks a strategic push by the Pune-based company to grow its GCC vertical. The firm is building a consulting-led services portfolio, and seeks to expand beyond its core telecom business.

Jha, who joined the firm in March as senior vice-president, was earlier executive director at Maryland-based TEKsystems. At KPIT, he worked on global delivery and transformation. His appointment comes as part of a broader leadership reshuffle in the firm's GCC practice.
