CENTRE TIGHTENS SECURITY FOR RE-EXAM
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a series of changes for the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination on June 21, while the Centre has warned of strict action against any attempt to compromise the test's integrity after the cancellation of the earlier exam over an alleged paper leak.
The revised measures include an extension of the examination window, additional rough-work space in question booklets, and changes aimed at improving convenience for candidates, including left-handed students. At the same time, the government has stepped up coordination among central and state agencies and strengthened security arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the high-stakes medical entrance examination.
NEET (UG) 2026 will be conducted from 2 pm to 5:15 pm, giving candidates a total examination window of 195 minutes. The NTA said the additional 15 minutes have been included to accommodate mandatory invigilation procedures and signing formalities at the beginning and end of the examination.
