As last day nears, over 2 lakh pleas filed for removal, 33,000 for inclusion in voter list
NEW DELHI: The Election Commission of India (ECI) is preparing to issue new voter identity cards to all electors in Bihar once the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls concludes, senior officials confirmed on Sunday.
An official noted, "While the plan is to provide fresh voter ID cards to every elector in Bihar, the final decision on the timing and manner of implementation is yet to be taken." Electors were asked to submit filled-up enumeration forms along with their latest photographs, which will be used in the updated voter database and for printing the new identity cards.
