C P Radhakrishnan takes oath as 15th Vice President of India

Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan on Friday took oath as the 15th Vice President of India, formally stepping into the country's second-highest constitutional office. President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath at a solemn ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers, senior leaders, and former dignitaries were present.

Radhakrishnan, 67, dressed in a red kurta, read out the oath in English "in the name of God." Following the ceremony, President Murmu extended her congratulations. Soon after, he assumed charge as the chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, an office held by the vice president in an ex-officio capacity.
