Modi to meet UK PM in Mumbai
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will begin his first official visit to India on Wednesday, marking a key step in advancing the India-UK partnership.
Invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Starmer's two-day visit aims to review progress under the “Vision 2035” roadmap and strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, and technology. Modi will meet Starmer in Mumbai, advancing the India-UK partnership.
The two leaders are expected to focus on the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)—the new name for the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA)—which is poised to eliminate tariffs on over 90 per cent of goods once ratified by the UK Parliament. The agreement, signed at Chequers in July, is seen as a cornerstone of the 10-year partnership strategy.
